" When I started Island Records in Jamaica almost fifty years ago, it was because I was captivated by the rhythms and the storytellers of a rich and diverse culture. Having achieved some success since then, built on the foundation of that Jamaican music, I have always tried to make it a priority to give back to the people of Jamaica. I want to expand that commitment through a non-profit foundation I have established called Island ACTS. In addition to charitable contributions in the US and elsewhere, Island ACTS will fund and promote better health, education and welfare in some of Jamaica's poorest communities."
